How to Prime an Lt1
Ok, i went through some posts and i saw that you can do it by taking out the pcm fuse. But how do you do it manualy, becuase i think that is the best way. I put a cam in and i really want to do everything the best way because i know are motors blow fairly easily by putting a new cam in.
PS: Detailed instrustions please. Thanks

If your talking about priming the oil pump before start up there is really only one way to do it. While you have the intake off just pull out that oil pump gear on the back of the lifter valley and stick a drill in there and turn the oil pump shaft. Of course once the intake is back on there isnt any way to do it. When i put the new engine in my car i just pulled the coil wire and cranked it over a little bit till i saw some pressure build on the guage. Then i plugged in the coil wire and let it rip. You should be ok.

If you only unplug the coil, you are washing your cylinders with fuel while cranking. Better to pull the PCM BAT fuse. That will kill the fuel and spark.
Still better is to use the oiler shaft with the drill or pressurize with an oil accumulator or something of that nature.

Youll need an oil pump prime shaft to connect to the drill, I rented mine from Auto Zone. Just take out the gear under the intake near the back of the block, its held in place by 1 bolt. Slid the priming shaft down and make sure it conects to the pump shaft. Turn the drill clockwise( I beleive) and let it rip.
