i just installed some pro mag 1.6 RRs and comp 987 springs on my car yesterday but even after reading this several times..i am still unclear on how often or even how to reset valve lash?? a friend and i did the procedure where you rotate the crank and set 0 lash where the pushrod pretty much has no play in it and followed with a 1/4 turn. this worked alright but we had some clanking when we fired it up so just tightened them all down till the clanking stopped. they still tick some though but i assume this is normal? the RRs are NSA. so far i think i have around 200 miles on the new set of springs and rockers...when should i check them again?

 

You might have to do it one more time.. I have 500 miles on my motor so far so good. Depends if you have a hyd/sol cam setup. Yes 1.6 rrs are loud, and its very easy to do valve lash.
