Yes but lt1 cars and now cheaper than ls1 so just take the diff in cash you spent on the car and buy a bigger power adder, nitrous, blower or turbo and or heads/cam/headers.
Besides us ls1 guys generally aren't interested in racing brothers in fourth gens..we usually like to put the hurt on the imports and ford guys..would say dodge but the vipers usually put the hurt on us and dodge don't have any other competiton car right now.
Where is the new charger anyway..and don't talk to me about pt cruiser or viper trucks..
Course gm isn't much better since the camaro and firebird are gone at least for now but they do have a big there with gtp,new monte and impala with gtp type engine and then of course the vette...and don't talk to me about the ssr truck..or sunfires..
And vettes are great just big bucks..

To heck with all the hard work, just call Vortech and order up the great equalizer... that's right an S-trim. I would personally go for the SQ trim that isn't noisy, unless you like gear whine/whistle. Spend one Saturday bolting the thing together, get it programmed for bigger injectors (don't use the FMU, they suck!!), and go beat the pants off just about any ls1. Oh, then get ready to rebuild your auto tranny and find a new rear cause you'll need it.

On average youre speaking about a .5 sec difference and 5mph in the traps. Even people talk about how the LS1 is a low 13 second car stock, your average run mid 13s from what I've seen. So, ~13.5 stock @105mph vs. ~14.0 @ 100mph.

A LT1 car with all of the standard boltons should be able to hang with a stock LS1.

Ive seen quite a few near stock lt1's walk all over stock or near stock ls1's. Drivers play a huge roll. Quite a few of the ls1 cars here run high 13s low low 14s. Well driven lt1 cars are beating them stock...

LS1's are under-rated.

LS1's are under-rated? LT1's are UNDER-RATED! LS1's are quick and one hell of an engine, but they are not unbeatable. My friend has a 98 Z28 A4 w/ FIPK, true dual Flowmasters, and no cats and his best was a 8.9. My other friend has a 94 Z28 M6 w/ BBK shorties, Flowmaster exhaust, SLP CAI, AFPR, and some tires. He also gutted the car like crazy. Ran a 8.2. It doesn't take that much to beat an LS1 if you can drive the thing right.

Really guys, LS1s arent gods engines. Sure i have seen them go low 13s stock, but my buddies cutout/cai/program LT1 car did 13.0s. Most stock ls1s around here are going 13.5-13.9 and the stock lt1s are going 14.0-14.4. IN other words, as i already said, and as some others said, its not that hard to outrun one. I took out a few with CAI/cat back on my car.

It also comes down to where and how you race an LS1. Me and my friend with a 98 TA M6 race each other frequently and each one is exactly alike depending on the situation. When we go from a light, I will typically pull about half a car on him until about 60 MPH, then he reels me in like a dead fish. On the highway, forget about it. When we go on the highway from a 60+ roll, all I see is his taillights get smaller and smaller. The LS1s are great top end motors where our cars powerbands arent as wide. But as I said before, they can be beat with good driving for us and bad driving for them.

And if you cant beat an LS1, just go pick on a Mustang or a Civic, they're always good for a pick-me-up.

With CAI, headers, cutout, and a few other little mods I could beat LS1s with a better launch, but they would catch up eventually.

Now with the 1.6RR, they don't pull on me. We either stay dead even or I pull them, from a 40 roll up to 135+. I need to dyno again, I bet I would put down the same as a stock LS1, around 310.

Just get a hot cam kit, gears 3.73, cat back, cai and adjust your rear view

I really like the LS1, but sometimes i think it gets blown out of porpotion, i think the 5 tenths 5 mph comment was dead on. They are not invincible. The only LS1 i have ever raced was on two different occaisions with two different C5's from a 45 roll to 105 and it was door to door the whole time. Anything can happen on the street!
