How much will a shop charge?

About how much would I be looking to spend if I have a shop install a new cam?

If you got the money, a port and polish is defenantly a good add on to a cam.

If you had someone else do the work then I would consider having parts changed out that are going to be taken off anyway. Like the water pump, opti, and timing chain, or possible new lifters. That's only if they are high milage and have never been changed before though. If so, then do some of that and change the heads later.

75,000 with stock water pump and opti. We will see what the shop has to say about the timing chain when installing the new cam and head porting. I will wait for the pump and opti to go out before replacement. "If it aint broke don't fix it"

I have heard of shops charging $800-1200. Do it yourself and save a lot of money. It is pretty straight forward as long as you have a good set of tools.
