How much to re-build short block.

Does anyone know how much it would be for a machine shop to rebuld my block, its got 130K miles on it and i wanna start fresh for the summer.

I just want a stock rebuild, nothing fancy, Just stock.

Does anyone know roughly how much a machine shop charged to like, bore, hone, deck, boil, cut crank, and balance it? Just the basic stuff for a short block rebuild.

Re: How much to re-build short block.

Ive been checking into prices locally for me and i have got estimates for my 94z ranging from 1500 (smaller shops) to 2200+- (larger shops like gopher and tristate engines)
As for cutting costs stripping it down to a long block your self and assembling it your self can take 100-200 off the price, at least in my case, hope it helps.

for a shortblock my guy could do a stock rebuild parts, machine work and everything for about $1200 if we used my shortblock as a core.

Re: How much to re-build short block.

I just got mine done a couple of months ago.
clean block
bore .30 and hone
line bore mains
deck the block
assemble bottom end and degree in cam
install cam bearings and freeze plugs
balance rotating assembly

1000.00 I paid cash, think that helped some

I also got my rotating ***. from them; eagle steel crank,I beam rods,SRP flat tops, rings and clevite bearings and a nice cloyes true roller t/c for 1040.00..they knocked some off for me paying cash again

^---That's what I would do, save a little more money, and get a built block from victory. That way when you decide you wanna start getting wild, you already know you have a quality bottom end. No sense in doing something twice. Plus you have a S/C, why not have victory build you a low compression motor, and crank up the boost. I think that is the way to go.
