How much power will I be putting down ??? (ordering parts today)

I need to know what kind of power I will be putting to the wheels ? I
just took out a loan so I am doing it all at once and doing it right .
Heres what I am ordering.......................

396 LT1 rotating assembly

LT1 assembled trickflow heads

CSI electric waterpump

STS remote mount turbo kit...... www.ststurbo.com

Boost controller from sts turbo

CC306 114 LSA camshaft

cloyes double roller timing chain

New optispark

New MSD wires

New NGK TR-6 plugs

Port match my intake

Already have 58MM BBK throttle body

Already have MAC headers

COMP CAMS pro-magnum 1.6 roller rockers

COMP CAMS lifters

COMP CAMS hardened pushrods

New oil pump

Computer tuning done by MADZ28

I am doing all the labor myself except for assembling the motor and
port matching the intake and having the exhaust welded.

With all this done how much HP and TQ do you suspect I will be putting
down ? Oh by the way I will be pushing between 5-15 Lbs. of boost

If you're not over 450 it's a waste of money , but my guess would be closer to 500RWHP....that's just a guess, from what I've seen..

BTW, that's a hefty loan....Glad to see you haveing fun with the $$ though

Holy ****. You wanna grab me a loan for the same setup?

No seriously, I know you do.

You should be pushing at least 500 I would say, if not, then return it all. Most def.

I have no idea what those heads flow so it's just a guess. Also what pistons did you get and what is your CR? If the heads flow as well as the AFR 210's then I would think you should be in the 450 RWHP with just motor and 500+ with the boost. That should make crazy TQ as well. I am a little curios about the cam selection considering the car will have boost.

You'd be better off porting the stock LT1 castings. The Trick Flows don't flow that much more unless you port them.

Sent you an email btw.

Really . I'll just have the stock castings ported and polished with 2.02
and 1.60 valves. That way I can put the money towards other parts
Thanks

Check your cam choice there, if I went turbo I'd be getting a custom cam for a turbo set up, not a off the shelf N/A. Also, concidering that this will be a boosted engine, its rare that people choose it to go on a 396 due to the lack of strength between cylenders with the type of stress this engine is gonna take.

Doin up to 15lbs on a 355, you'll have more than enough tourque for the street anyway, the extra cubes may not be that nessesary. You said your doin it right the first time, well man, are you sure your not doing this as a 396+real mount turbo for novalty?

Edit/Addition: Oh yea, I forgot to mention that I remember reading at one point that it is relativly hard to get low enough compression ratios for a 396

Damn!!!

You took out a loan for all that....

Sucks to be a car enthusiest doesn't it???....

.... something all of us on here can understand....

That will be one hell of a monster though... but why do 396 STS? I thought the stroker guys want higher compression on that setup... isn't the 396 kind of an ALL MOTOR theme?

Why not go 355 low compression and a Giant turbo or TTkit... it will run you about the same when all is said and done...and even still you could puff on the nitrous if that's not enough for you. I'm planning and been planning on the 355-T setup and slowly getting there.

You should do somemore research first before you go blowing cash... figure out what HP figures your looking for... figure out what Head setup and cam will best go for your ideal setup... and then put all the goodies together.

I say the 396 is a good idea....the extra cubes will help when you start focing the air in there Go 396, you won't regret it

Re: How much power will I be putting down ??? (ordering parts today)

you wont be able to use the stock heads and run a turbo. unless you call up cometic and order some very thick head gaskets. you want 10.5:1 compression run 15lbs of boost. also get a custom cam call bullet cams they will set you straight

With 15lbs of boost you should be around 600rwhp at least Id imagine. I dont know about your head choice though. If it was my motor Id be giving Phil at AI a call and asking him about cams too since he can match one to those heads for your application. Spare no expense on the topend as thats were all the power is. You do realize you will have about as much money in that motor than it would take to buy a really nice 97-00 C5 right?
