I have the opportunity to purchase an LT1 for a rebuild. It has everything pretty much except accessories (has an oil pan and intake otherwise just a longblock). Crank and Rods are pretty much new.

Problem is that when the engine was supercharged it damaged two of the pistons and the cylinder walls need to be bored out, it only has a few thousand miles on it. What should I offer for this engine?

I forgot to mention too that the supercharger is no longer on the engine if that is going to alter the price at all.

 

Dang, I picked up a spare longblock for my rebuild for 200.00, only had 50k miles on it.

 

Stock internals? I say 250....did those pistons come apart and chew up bearings or the heads?

 

I believe the pistons started to overheat because the engine was running really lean due to a bad FPR. Only a small part of the piston was damaged. A machine shop said that all that needed to be done was to rebore the cylinders and then rebuilt but the rest of the internals and heads were still ok.

 

I paid $550 for a good longblock which I have put 55K on and cammed since. For a blown motor I would say $250 with the intake and such, maybe more if the heads had been ported.
