How much HP/TQ gain from mail order tune?

Hey all,

Just curious what kinds of performance gains I can expect from a mail order tune on a bolt-on 94 LT1? Mods:

Cold Air
Tb Bypass
1.6 rr and LT4 valve springs
Mac Headers and Y
High Flow Cat
Full Cat-back exhaust
LT4 knock module

Thanks

try a search. I'd say average gain is 15 RWHP and RWTQ. I'm gonna send mine in eventually.

yeah its kinda tough to match up combos and compare. I think its well worth the money, as i said, I plan on sending mine out very soon for my bolt on combo. my car seems to need some tweaking.

Nobody can say xx hp and xx tq. Every car is different and will respond differently.

In addition to the hp I would say driveability and engine/tranny (autos) behavior is improved a lot.

I know its not an apples comparison but I had a mail-order tune done for my Silverado 6.0 V-max and its a night/day difference in how it acts and drives. Well worth the money.

i jost got my tuned pcm back from solomon and so far it feels a bit smoother and bites a bit harder. hp/tq gain, i have no idea, but i guess for the small amount of money it's a pretty good thing to do.

The 1.6 rr will give a little top end power with a factory set up maybe about five horses
The valve springs will allow you to have more lift but will not affect power unless your old ones were in bad shape then you will see a difference.
COI is good for at least 10 to fifteen horses on average
The headers and exhaust will probably give you about ten to fifteen rwhp and the lt4 knock module will probably not be much different with a stock set up other than the roller rockers.
A tune with these should produce about twenty more horses and better fule economy but thats just a guess in the as to about what i got when i had all of your upgrades plus a grenatali mass air sensor and 52mm tb. Doesnt sound bad and id say you should be around the 315 to 320 mark with a good tune.

With a good tune I would expect 300-310rwhp, 320-330rwtq.

I have the same mods you do plus a 52 mm TB, crank pulley, ls1 DS, mild head/intake work, cutout. My numbers are in my sig.

If i get a better tune I bet theres 7-8rwhp & 11-12rwtq in it still.

Possibly i did mean about fwhp for the guy asking the question and yeah your right with a better tune if possible then there is always a little more power. Not bad numbers but with the intake work and mile head work then your going to be getting more power than the guy that is just going with bolt ons and a tune upgrade.

slickz/slowmaro: thanks for the input. i think i'd be a bit higher than 320 at the crank, because lt1's are essentially 295-300 crank hp engines if you add corvette type breathing from intake and cat back. add mac headers, y, and hi flow cat, 1.6 rr/springs, tb bypass, tb airfoil, and tune, and i'd estimate at least 25 rwhp combined? i know folks here with mac headers have picked up 20-25 rwhp, so i'd hope i was at least 300 rwhp

I'll bet your within 5hp/tq of 310rwhp and 325rwtq, well provided the tune isnt pure crap.

that's what i was guesstimating. i think the tune is pretty good - car runs excellent and is certainly smoother. 6th gear is more usable now, less bog/grit than before tune.
