there is no right answer to the question "will i be able to beat.......?" every car is different and every driver is different. sure some people could have beaten cobras with a bone stock lt1's but that doesnt mean that YOU will beat them.

i have seen bone stock cobras go anywhere mid 13's at 103+ to mid 14's at 98+. i have also seen bone stock lt1's go anwhere from high 13's 102+ to high 14's at 96+.

moral of the story is lt1's will always win on cz28.com and cobras will always win on a mustang forum. lol race the race and see what happens!

 

A stock LT1 shouldn't murder any cobra from 93-01. 96-98 Cobras should be a pretty close race, a '99 with the 'fix' is a quicker car as is an '01 Cobra. Both the '99 and '01, given equal drivers, should be 2-4 tenths and 2-3 mph faster than a stock LT1.

 

when my lt1 was stock i raced my buddies 97 cobra from a 20 roll, we were door to door until the top of 3rd when i started walking him. at the end of 4th i had 2 car lengths on him.

all my ford buddies had been making me thing i would lose because the cobra heads flow around 300cfm. i guess flow doesnt matter if you dont have the cubic inches to back it up.

I have a 97 SS my buddy has a 97 Cobra, both sticks. I beat him every time, if we swap cars I still beat him. We have another friend who is an avid drag racer, he beats both of us.

 

Yeah, 97s were overated. That's why Ford recalled them to get the power back up. Should be a pretty even race if both are truly stock. The win will be determined by the holeshot.

 

THis makes me laugh soooo hard. I was bored last night and found myself on a mustang forum...Well guess what came up...a stock 98 GT against a 93 LT1 and they were all talking crap about the LT1's. Later in the post the guy said he ended up racing him and beat him by "two tractor trailer lengths"...I was like wow, only in a mustang forum does a mustang ever win by that much. hahaha. Since we are being traditional here..your damn right you will beat that cobra!!

Any 96-up Cobra has an advantage over a stock LT1 (NOT SS or WS-6).

But then on a second note, the immaturity and ignorance tends to be alot worse on the Mustang boards.

 

Try 99's not 97's bud.

 

Are you refering to me? I don't see how you can say that since I was obviously being sarcastic. I have seen plenty of mustangs win...I don't think they are all fast and I dont think they are fast stock, same for camaros. I was merely making a joke that on each board that this topic originates there is always a different outcome...thats what I think is funny.

 

I have to agree. alot of morons in this thread. cobras are harder to drive to their potential stock..thats why most of them don't do as well.

In my 97 SS tosted my budys 99 SVT cobra he was running a 5sp and i have a built A4. And my friend told me good job so he adimits that he was beat fair and squair. but its funn just messing around

 

To give you and idea my old 98 Cobra with bassani x-pipe, magnaflow mufflers, and cai trapped 103mph. My Trans Am with Magnaflow catback, and CAI trapped 102mph. Personally I think a strong running Cobra vs a strong running LT1 would be a drivers race. And maybe a slight edge to the Cobra. I have seen many more stock 98 Cobras trap 101+mph than I have LT1's at the track, including mine when it was stock. There no slouch by no means. At least the 98's werent.
