how much HP do you think this 383 lt1 is?
how much HP do you think this 383 lt1 is?
http://www.victoryracingengines.com/...LTX&BLOCK=LONG
They don't advertise HP/torque numbers, any idea on what that puts out by the specs??
I'm just curious, because when my lt1 dies I want to get a crate engine and am just poking around now trying to get an idea. I figure for the price of a LS1 car I can get a nice Lt1 crate motor, just because my car is pretty much built up already with 12bolt, street twin, way to much work in it for me to dump, and it would be neat to have an lt1 monster.
Thanks
Brian

I don't see any specs on the page as far as heads/cam goes but i'd imagine anywhere from 380-430rwhp if you go n/a (Thats what I opted for but with a big azz Nitrous Shot)... Nick and Eric are freakin awesome people to work with and I am sure they will accomodate anything you wish to go with. Although that 383 Long Block looks freakin amazing... it might be a tad overkill. Just ask them questions man... Nick and Eric are second to none bro. I asked the same questions over and over just to be reassured and they were always the same answer and apparently always right!!

although the stroker produces crazy torque.

Without head and cam #'s, theres no way to tell. And honestly, heads and cam in a stroker is all where it is. I have AFR heads with a mild cam in my 383, and I put down 408 rwhp with bad lifters and with a heavier weight oil for brake in purposes. I expect I am currently about 420 now that I swapped lifters, and am running some synthetic royal purple.

with a moderate cam, expect just over 400 to the wheels. are you goin to daily drive it? or will it become a weekend warrior? the big difference for a 383 over a 355 is more torque, especialy down low in the rpms, and with the same cam, it will peak at a lower rpm. as in, X cam might make peak power in a 355 at 6700, but peak at 6200rpm in a 383. and higher rpms will wear out any engine faster. the best part about that package is you can throw TONS of nitrous at it, and it'll eat it up.
Re: how much HP do you think this 383 lt1 is?
My AFR heads were fully ported by TPIS, however they were the old style AFR's that I guess didn't flow as well as the newer ones. This summer I am yanking the motor and putting in an ATI- D1SC. While the motor is out I will have the heads put on a flow bench to see the actual numbers. I am guessing somewhere in the 260-270 range. I used to have a CC306 cam in the car, that was a monster. The current cam specs I will try to get back with you on, however I know it is a fairly mild cam. It makes descent power around 2700-4500 but doesn't really pull like my CC306 did up top. The drivability is outstanding though. It is extremly smooth. Its hard to believe I have that much money in the car either. If all goes well with the Procharger, I am going to try to submit a packet to GM-High Tech Performance Magazine. I would love to get the cover, but would be happy with just a readers rides slot in the back. We'll see.

my cam specs are as follows: 230/236 .510 lift, with a 112 LSA.
Money was not really spared on my Camaro when it came to expensive parts. (Lunati Crank, PRO Callies rods, SRP Pistons (JE), 4 bolt splayed mains, cromoly pushrods, and all the expensive suspension goodies as well, + some appearance mods to mention a handfull of the expenses)
It took years of paychecks, and heart brakes with the car, and as previously stated its not finished yet since I decided to go blown from the currently N/A, and change up a few things with the motor. Sorry to go on and on here... Yes... I am addicted to my car.
