It's god ARP studs and it's a longrod 355 operating at 11.3:1 with forged ross pistons and 6" eagle i-beams.

500fwhp or 500rwhp? Cause I will be upgrading to the Super Vic and 11.7 compression which should bring me to 500rwhp w/a custom grind.

Part of it is how well the motor is put together... if you have the clearances set right, oil pressure right etc..... everything should be awesome. There is a area where the caps might start to have a problem and start moving around and you are starting to get close to that when you get over 500hp.

Looks like I'll be pushing the limit if I go with the Super Vic intake then.

If you are pushing 500rwhp I would be real worried about 2 bolt stuff.....I assumed you were going to max out at 450.

Re: How much hp can a 2-bolt main take?

It's still a small block chevy.

I recall a 355 I built a few years back...

Two bolt main.

I line bored it, had it honed with torque plates, used studs and a forged crank with pink rods and "I don't remember" forged pistons. Good heads for day... Angle plugs.

Ran a Weiand Team-G with a 750 double-pumper and a Comp Cams 305 magnum. Spun that sucker to 7500 on a regular basis

We didn't have dyno rooms next to every Walmart back then, so I can't tell you what kind of power it made, but the point is that two bolt main SBC's with good prep and quality parts will hold together surprisingly well.

Re: How much hp can a 2-bolt main take?

Good stuff.

I believe an 847 could make 500rwhp with the right intake and heads, but I'm not going to be sticking with the 847. I will get a custom grind when I get the intake. But I will be sticking with LE3 heads.

500rwhp N/A with the right heads/cam? Tell me more! I have all the boltons you can do with stock casting heads. I am running the LE2 heads with the GM847 Cam. I guess I could have went LE3. :P Anyhow, is this switching to carb or still EFI? My buddies 500tq firebird is making me very jelious!

There are a few companies that make a billet aluminum main support that should make your set up stronger than any 4-bolt block. I can't remember where to get them but Badasscars.com (Bad *** racing engines) uses them and they could tell you where to buy one.
