how much hours of labour to change cams in my car?
Theres no way your doing a cam/valvetrain install in 6 hours... not even close unless you've done it many times and you don't have to go to the bathroom and you are Mr perfect with a one size fits all socket and designed the engine

i understand its fully applicable with a group of people, but one person isnt gonna do it in 6hrs. Things always go wrong, and they take time to fix. the oil pan seal will almost always rip, water pump shaft seal, etc

...and if you have the right tools to do the job...it goes much faster than you would think...
Your right...things do go wrong sometimes, but not all the time...so yes, if things went well...I could do it in 6hrs by myself...
I've done it before...I should know...

man...I'm starting to sound like an ***...and I hate that b/c I'm a really nice guy...I'm just going to let it rest...no need to argue...
I am not trying to be mean, but I just don't believe it. Maybe if somone was in a "contest" or something then I would believe it but I can't see somone working that hard for 6 hours strait. You would have to work extremely fast and at that speed I would worry about stripping bolts, etc.
But chances are that the average person is going to break a lot of things (something that is going to require you to go to the store)

Cory is a very knowledgable guy and I am going through him to do the work on my car. When it is done I will let you know how his work is. I have heard it was very good and he is reputable. It's funny how one person can say that he can do something in a given amount of time and everyone can just bash them. Maybe he can, or he can't. But I know that he does this and would it do him any good to lie to potential customers. If he quotes someone 6 hours to do a cam swap and that is what is agreed and it really takes him 10, then why say 6...
Makes no sense to throw money away. That's just me...can't wait to get this stuff done Cory!!!!

cam swap doesn't take long at all.. it's just a pita to change the springs on the car in my opinion. You would be bustin your ***** to do everything in 6 hours. I have done the cam in my car start to finish in around 4 hours, thats with no ac on the car and having to run to autozone once for a tool. Im nost saying its imposible just hard to pull it off in 6.
The comment about the exhaust bolts breaking off was under the impression that you'd be removing them to install the springs and get fresh head gaskets. You can change the springs on the car but it is a little awkward and tough on this guy's old back.
with the hotcam do i need to change anything but the cam???
cause if it only takes 4 hours to change a cam that would be great since i have to get a new opti anyways... might as well go vented!

I'd recommend the timing chain, front seal, and the seal near the cam/waterpump (it's late and I can't think of the name). There are a few sites that detail how to do the cam swap if you want to save a few bucks. If you have some good skills, it can be done. It isn't that tough. One good site was www.streetillusionsracing.com but it seems to be down at the moment.
This site is ok but has the general idea if you'd like to try it. http://www.cis.udel.edu/~davis/z28/buildup/cam/ I did notice it didn't get into the removal of the fuel rail/ injectors.

No offense, but I don't believe it's possible. Maybe a couple of people working together with practice. Not gonna argue about it though.

Well here is my .02 . I have done probally 20+ cam installs on Lt1's and from start to finsh now it takes me a little over 6 hours using air tools. I don't have to fumble around for parts looking for the correct tool. This is counting all R&R.
My first time I ever installed a cam it took me about 10 hrs. Most of the time was running back an forth to the auto parts store to pick up a tool, part or a gasket.
My sugesstion would be not to see who can get it done the quickest but done correctly. I would much rather have some one that took 12+ hours on my car to do it right the first time(if I didn't do my own work) than some one who rushed through it and finished in under 6 hours.
