how much for heads installed

what is the average price someone would pay to have heads installed? i want to have lloyd elliot port mine to the le2, but i think installing them is a job that is way over my head, i dunno, is it really hard, the most ive ever done is a wp and several tranny mounts. i'm not dumb or anything i just get worried that im gonna mess somthing up when it comes to internals and all. So a little help would be great. thanks

It's not that hard.If ya get a manuel you should be able to handle it. The only thing is do ya have the tools?
I charge $525.00 for the job+ parts and I don't do flat rate work(slam it back together) I will also check everything that comes off and then some.
If ya get your car back and something is wrong with it no matter if it is related to the head change or not ya gonna say I didn't do a good job. That is why I like to check everything.

Good man ^^^

That sounds about right, I usually hear a quote of about 500-600ish for head swap around here in the south western side of ohio.

Dude - if you can change your WP I bet you could do the heads. There are plenty of write ups out there and almost too much info on it here. Do some research, ask questions, take your time!

it will definately be clean, when i work on my car im kinda a neat freak, all bolts, parts etc. go in plastic bags, are marked and taped etc. to what they go to. When i was little my dad did this when he worked on the drag boat so when it came time for me to work on my car i just did the same thing. There will def. be no dirt or anything getting in there tho. what kinda of manul should i get?

Haynes maybe,there are several good
"how to" book's available. Some cost a few bucks like the motor manual series are 35-50 bucks.
Also be very observant with how it comes apart so ya won't be putting piece's on to early and have to take them back off.

Good luck!!!!!!

Re: how much for heads installed

The first time I pulled my heads I took pictures with a digital camera, and took some footage with my video camera. I also wrote down diagrams of anything I didn't think I could remeber. Overkill yes, piece of mind, priceless, using your visa sucks. Like on the intake, there are studs and bolts. I wrote down which went where. Just anything like that. I put al my bolts and hardware for each component and put them in labeled zip loc gallon sized plastic bags. Ie. water pump bolts in this bag, inake bolts and component in another bag. I kept track of where my lifters/rockers/pushrods went. It is an intimidating task, but once you get going, you will see how easy it really is. Make sure you take your time, keep things extremely clean, and have some band aids handy. Those banjo bolts on the back of the heads bite back. Why not save 500 dollars. Take that money and buy some more go fast goodies. Ask tons of questions here.

Good luck and save some bucks:
