Unhappy How much for good A4 rebuild?

I have had the car now for a little over 2 years and it has 137k with the stock tranny. For the past 2 weeks, a few times the tranny didn't want to shift into overdrive at a relatively high speed. I know jack squat about transmissions and I checked the fluid which is fine and was changed a few months ago. I'm hoping someone can answer a few questions for me reguarding a rebulid.
-isn't it about time? I have heard a good bit about other having
to have theirs rebuilt sooner
-Are most rebuilds the same, like would a rebuild for my Bronco
be just as reliable as one for my car. If a differenece, what is it?
-How much should I expect to pay for a decent rebuild of my
stock A4? I don't need anything drastic. I plan on adding a
stall, tranny cooler, shift kit and it needs to be able to hold
around 400rwhp.

Thanks for any help and forgive me if any of my questions seemed backed by little education in the field, they are.

137k is really good life, for the rebuild on my truck it cost $1800. I would expect anything from $1400-2000.

I had mine done for $1800, with the below listed upgrades, at about 70K miles. I also bought the lifetime warranty for $300.

My tranny recently went bad, local shop wanted $1100 for a rebuild. So I looked around a bit and found a tranny from HPA. The stage 1 rated up to 450rwhp, 6 month warrenty. Cost of tranny was $999 plus your old tranny. I went ahead and had them stick a converter in it and all together for everything I paid somewhere around $1600. Just look around, and maybe give them a call, Talk to John he knows his stuff.

I think you'll be at least looking to spend 1,000+. I've seen some basic rebiulds for 1000, but good ones for 1500 and great ones for 2000. Its all about what u want and how good u want it. I say go all out, esp if you plan big hp. But thats me.
