How much extra oil for K&N 3002?

For my next oil change I'd like to use the K&N 3002 filter and know it's larger than the 2002. My question is is there a specific extra amount of oil needed when switching to the larger filter, like another 1-qt or?
Thx,
Greg

Best thing to do, is simply to top off the filter with oil before install, then go ahead and feed the pan with as many qts as it normally holds. When you check the stick, should be right at the mark.

The 3002 holds about a 1/4 of a quart more oil than a stock sized filter. I usually get about 800ml of oil into a new 3002 filter before I put it on my car at oil change time.

They have them on the shelves at Pep Boys now for $9.99 (around here at least). Or you can get them from places like Summit for around $8.99. It's the only filter I'll use now after trying it, they are Sweeeet filters

Okay, so I'm basically looking at an oil change w/ filter that requires ~5-1/4 quarts of oil as opposed to the standard 5. That works. Thanks for the info guys!

The problem with the 3002, IMO, is that it's a little bit too long. When your car bottoms out, the filter is gone, and so with the oil. I haven't seen it happening yet thou, but it could happen.

Yeah, I know what you're saying about bottoming out but if I did bottom out that hard to crush the filter I'd have a lot more to worry about!

You've got to be kidding me, it doesn't even stick down lower than the oil pan! So if you bottom out your car hard enough to damage the filter, you would've damaged the oil pan anyways! There is tons of room for a long filter on the LT1, at least without long tubes.

It would probably be too long if you're running a stock oil cooler.
