How much effect do RESONATOR TIPS have on exhaust sound???

A while ago I ordered some dual/dual hooker tips from jegs... they accidently sent me ones with resonators but I said screw it since I was using the cutout 24/7... I just ordered a new muffler (Hooker Aerochamber) but I don't want it to be too quiet... Will the resonators really dampen it or will it be close to the same sound...

IF THE TIPS YOU HAVE ARE THE "GLASS PACKED" ONES THEY WILL DEADED YOUR EXHAUST. I USE TO HAVE A 89 GTA, REMOVED THE MUFFLER & INSTALLED A STRAIGHT PIPE IN IT'S PLACE. LEFT THE CATS ON & INSTALLED THE GLASS PACKED TIPS. DROVE IT ON THE STREET AS A DAILY DRIVER & IT WASN'T TO LOUD AS THE COPS NEVER BOTHERED ME ..... HOPE THIS HELPS ?

No these are not glass packs... I don't like the sound of those anyway... I mean I can cap my cutout and it will go through the stock muffler, I can't really tell the difference though... I think it may be a little quieter but it still barks when you rev it up.

Anybody else?

I think the sound of the hooker muffler w/ the resonator tips may sound better. The hooker catback sounds pretty good as it is while at cruising RPMs or when you run through the gears. With the sound resonating I'd imagine it sounding better. The hooker muffler/catback seems like the only one out there w/ a more refined note to it.

That's funny that they sent you the resonated tips. When I placed my original order for my tips, I wanted the resonated tips, but they only had one in stock and I would have had to wait for six weeks. I went ahead and got the non-resonated tips instead.

I have the Hooker Classic Euro tips on my Hooker cat-back and the set-up sounds great. I'm kinda glad I didn't get the resonated tips now, cause I'm happy with the way it all came out.

You can hear my car on the dyno with the non-resonated tips on my website (link in the sig)...
