How much does converter take away tranny life
If I got around a 2600-2800 stall and a trans cooler, about how many years/miles take away from my tranny. I know this might seem a little bit of a broad question to ask, but so far I haven't found a straight answer. My car is stock except for catback and cai, so I'm not making tranny breakin power Yet
. I have 63k on my car now, so if anyone could give me a guess on how bad the converter might kill the tranny.
Also, post how long your stock tranny/converter held up before you needed a rebuild, and how long people have had a high stall converter on their stock tranny.
Thanks

First and foremost, make sure its a lock up converter. Second, get a good tranny cooler and put it in line with your factory cooler in the radiator. I used a b&m 19000 gvu (and dont let it hang, mount it in the air inlet area) another good upgrade is a shift kit. I recomend the trans go for around 100 dollars. a tranny shop can install it for you for around another 100. Personally i wouldnt do a stall without doing those first. just my two cents. Hope this helps. prorac1
