How much did you pay to lower your car?

Not including your springs. Just wondering how much you guys paid for labor to lower your f-body? Going to get mine lowered this week but just wondering what the going rate is?

Thanks,
Johnny

Johnny,
It cost me 250 and that was 7 or 8 years ago. Get quotes from at least 3 or 4 shops.

A mechanic with the proper tools can do this in under 2 hours EASY and that is changing springs AND shocks. My advice... don't pay over what you would consider a fair price for 2 hours work.

The $10/hour side job mechanic might take longer than 2 hours so it'll cost you a little more than $20. My point is, if a mechanic feels justified in charging you $50 an hour then they better damn well know what they are doing. My MUFFLER mechanic bud who had never changed a 4th gen F-Body springs/shocks did mine in 1.5 hours and wasn't rushing. About all I did was mess with my stereo (yep, that time included removing/disconnecting 2 amps, speaker wires, subs & box) and help with the tires.

The rears are really easy to swap and for the fronts, pull out the old shock/spring assembly and have a shop separate the two with a compressor.

Labor cost was "0"..... did consume a few beers though... does that count? .

Check out the "HAL shock/Eibach spring install" on

this page.

Also some photos on the bottom of the "Photos" page.

took me 37 min to remove all for springs..that includes puttin the car on 4 jack stands and removing all 4 wheels. ITs a peace of cake.
