Re: how much can the opti take?

i have washed my engine many times and not had a problem with it. I replaced my opti at about 100k just because it was mising a little and when i took the opti apart there was no sign of water. You should be fine.

No one can predict how much water will affect a given opti. Too many variables. I drove a few thousand miles with an intermittent water pump leak and it did not affect mine at all.

Like shoebox said, it really depends on the situation...but since yours is vented, you should probably be okay.

Re: how much can the opti take?

The only opti I have taken appart was sealed really well... only way water or coolant could get inside is if you dropped it in a lake. Power washed my motor a few times and never had any problems as I expected. You should be ok but I would worry more about the leak than the opti.

Re: how much can the opti take?

A little dielectric grease on the wiring harness seal goes a long ways towards making the opti even more waterproof. I did that to mine and it has had a few coolant baths since with no ill effects.
