how much for a cam
how much for a cam
I would maybe get a lt4 hotcam. How much for parts and labor. How much would i gain from it. The only other thing i would get would be headers. I dont want to touch the heads.
The Hot Cam kit is OK for the $$$ but you could put a little more $ with it and get a Comp XE cam and kit from Combination Motorsport (702-798-8504).
This would be the Comp XE cam (218-224, 224-230, etc), better springs, retainers, locks, and roller rockers. Pretty much everything that the Hot Cam kit has but better parts.
You would get better springs that will work with a larger cam in case you decide to go larger later on. The Hot Cam springs will BARELY work with the Hot Cam and will not work with ANYTHING larger. They also have good prices on pushrods, gaskets, etc.
Not sure of a "HP #" increase but as long as you have some headers, you should see at least 20 HP increase with any of those cams and "possibly" 30-40 with enough compilimenting mods and RPM. The more RPM you turn, the more increase you will see. The larger the cam, the more increase you could see as well but depending on how large of a cam you chose, you could lose some power at lower RPM. The Hot Cam, XE 218-224 and 224-230 should be fine for an LT1 with headers, even wirth an A4 and stock converter and stock gears.
