Just wondering about going blower with my heads, 54cc LT1 heads, 6lb you guys think will be fine? What is ussually the compression ratio with 54cc heads & stock LT1 motor & Fel-pro 1074 gaskets? LMK thanx guys. I know guys run 8lb on stock motors with no probs but stock heads are like 68 cc, thanx LMK guys.

I wouldn't run any boost on a stock LT1. It's not a matter of IF, but WHEN it's going to break.

How about none at all in your case. Stock LT1 heads are 58cc. Your down at 54cc so your about 11to1 now. Time to get blower pistons.

LT1 pistons just hate boost.... Again nothing really over 6psi. One of the Aftercooled Vortech kits is cool and I assume cooling the incoming air will lower the risk of detonation.

Good luck

Well i think you have some figures smudged up

First off stock LT1 heads are around 58cc not 68. With 58cc, stock engine, gaskets, etc it comes to 10.52:1 c/r.

When you change the figures to 54cc and a felpro 1074 gasket you now have about 11.36:1 c/r.

IMO much to high to safely run boost period.

You are wrong KMOOK, stock heads are 54-56CC tops, compression is 10.9:1 trust me, I CC'd several stock heads some are 54cc dead on stock, mine were 55.6 or so, now they are 54cc exactly, .006 milling = to 1 cc, I milled .010 which = to minus 1.6cc, they went from 55.6 to 54 cc.

I'm not an expert on boost but I've asked the same question before and the response that I got was 4lbs max. But, like I said, I really have no idea. You might have better luck by posting this in the forced induction section.
