those of you who have a 355 how much torque n horsepower do you produce over a stock lt1 and does it make power in different places

 

not a lot of people go to a 355 specifically for more power. usually during a rebuild they bore the cylinders .030 over and the resulting displacement is 355. Odds are it will have very similar hp/tq curves to a 350 with the same heads and cam, but with maybe a 1-2% increase. If you just want more power, I wouldnt waste my time rebuilding the bottom end.

 

Better by about 0.030" per cylinder.

It is usually other power mods that are done at the same time while the engine is torn down that makes it seem like it is something more special.

 

If you are looking for more torque then go with a 383. A good set of heads and cam increase hp.
