It can vary alot. It all depends on if you take your time and search for parts, or if you just buy a package that comes complete with everything needed. If you search around and get all the parts individually, you could save yourself a significant amount of money.

I'm changing out mine this weekend and here is a little estimate for ya based on my two month spending spree:

M6 conversion kit- $1500 + $60 for freight

Parts from Jason Cromer
LT4 PP- $211
LT1 disk- $145? (wanted the SLP one for $89, but they were BO'd)
Center console plate w/boot- $45
new trans mount- $45
various connectors/pigtails- $50
shipping ~$20 on the above

Other stuff
get flywheel resurfaced- $30 at NAPA
pilot bushing ~$5
clutch alignment tool ~$10
Pro5.0 shifter w/ custom ****- $230
Strange 3.73s- ~$200
Install kit for gears- $90
grease, fluids, etc -$30
having the gears installed ~$200 (hooked up through a friend)
reprogrammed PCM $45
plus more shipping charges/ taxes

All total... about $2850

I originally budgeted for about $2400, but went a little over due to the shifter and forgetting about the S&H charges. If you have 3.23s and want to do it pretty cheaply(no gears, new clutch/PP, or other things) you MIGHT get away with spending around $2000. But if you want to do it right with a new clutch/PP, gears, good shifter, etc..... plan on spending closer to $3K when done

Yea, some stuff is a little unecessary... but it'll add up quicker than you think even without those things. Trying to drive this car around with the M6 and 2.73s for a few days will be a little interesting too. Looked at a gear calculator and in 6th at 80mph I'll be turning 1400rpm I hope the mechanic my bud is hooking me up with for the gear install can do this thing early next week.

Hope this helps
