How much $$ to P&P Heads
How much $$ to P&P Heads
So what is an average cost for P&P stock LT1 Heads.
And would it even be worth the trouble of doing with out a cam?
Me and some friends have access to a shop after hours for a few months, and i know i wanted a cam but i noticed i can get complete used heads for around 100-150 $,
WOuld it make sense to put the heades and cam in at the same time?

That's a broad one, you can spend $200 - $2,000

You'll probably do a cam down the road anyway right? Wouldn't hurt.

That's a good price, just make sure you aren't getting junk.

Yes.

Yes.
It depends on what all you want done to the heads and how far you want to go. Around town usual charge 200 bucks for your basic and anywhere from 450-500 for the more re worked heads.
I have learned how to do it from some really experienced people, and I have even had some people come to me for porting. In my opinion trie portting them yourself. once you learn you never forget.
to me its worth putting heads and cam in at the same time, it depends on how much money you got. think of what your going to spend and add 250-500 over run.

my heads were around $1500 i think for complete port and polish, new valves and springs, assembled and flow tested with the intake ports matched to the heads and the throttle body polished up. over all i think i have spent upwayds of 4grand on heads/cam/headers/and the misc stuff to go along with it.
Your last question is the most relevent. Doing your heads will help no matter what you put in the car. On the other hand, the cam won't perform as well without heads. But to get the most out of either one, you need the other. I would wait and do them all at once. You'll like the results much more. But I noticed you don't have a sig. You need to put one so we can see what else you have in the car. A cam will cost only about 200 bucks but you'd also want to put in 1.6's and a new timing chain. Put in a sig and get back to us.
