How many of you are using 10w30 motor oil?

I have been running Mobil 1 5w30 and my oil pressure seems kinda low, I am hoping with 10w30 it will be better. Just wandering if its OK, because the it the book it says to use 5w30.

10w13 for 160000 miles so far so good, but nothing higher.

I've used Mobil 1 10W30 for the last 50,000 miles. Works great. Mobil 1 actually has pretty low viscosity for the rating of the oil. I've read that the Mobil 1 10W30 is actually closer to a normal 5W30. So if you are using Mobil 1 5W30, that might be why your pressures are a little low. Go ahead and switch. It won't hurt anything.

I switched to 10w30 earlier this year, right after the winter. its been good...thinking about going back to 5w30 for the upcoming winter, and back to 10w30 after it.

type of oil filter you use also can cause low oil presure. I am using a fram and that thing sits LOW, even at WOT. I had the normal puralator in there and the presure seemed higher. Its weird.

5w30 is for better fuel economy but it is not very good at portecting your motor. If you look at the temp rating of 5w30 you would change your mind about using it. The auto makers use 5w30 for lower emmisions. 10w30 is better and 15w50 gives the best pertection.

10w30 and 5w30 oils will have the same viscosity when hot, although a 5w30 conventional will thin out quicker, so eventually it does become a 5w20.

But with a good 5w30 synthetic, it will not thin out so it's the better way to go over 10w30 as it will flow better when you initially start it up. I've gone one step further and am using 0w30. I will have oil analysis results in a few weeks.

I'm using 10w30 mobil 1. Actually I had four quarts 10w30 mixed with one quart 15w50, and it worked perfect. I'm not going to do that this winter though, I think I'll just put in all 10w30.
