well?

I have two friends (one owns a turbo SR20 240, the other a ported eaton lightning) that say my car will detonate and blow up if I don't get a wideband to tune. they also don't trust my mail order tune from ion simply because the engine came apart last time with his tune (his tune was fine, lack of oil killed the engine before) I also will be putting the car on the dyno which has a wideband O2 sensor on that, which I think will be fine for all my tuning needs.

so is one honestly needed on what is essentially a cam only and boltons car?

It can't hurt. I have one on my LT1, and it's been pretty useful.

I know it can't hurt. my funds are tight and I have already spent more than I wanted to for this build. I guess spending a couple hundred more to safeguard it wouldn't be a bad idea. My initial thoughts were that they are more useful to a forced induction engine than a cam only LT1 that will probably make ~330 rwhp.

Can you recommend a kit with a gauge and wideband? Was looking around, but not sure what to get if I decide to pick one up....been thinking about it myself.

I have been on the fence about installing a Wideband O2 as well.
These are my questions:
1. I was told they dont last very long if you leave them in. Is this true?
2. Will they give an accurate reading at a post cat converter position?
3. What sthe best quality one out there?

I have an Innovate LC-1, with the O2 sensor mounted in the x-pipe. Mine's a few years old, and I understand the newer kits are much nicer.

For a cam only setup? Hell no.

it's wise if you're changing injectors and going with a big cam IMO.

I'm running the LC1 with the G2 A/F gauge. Awesome tool. I use Datamaster to log my A/F using 5v reference off my AC pressure sensor.

I only have 1 installed on Bank 1 of my y-pipe. Thought about getting another one for Bank 2 but I don't think there will much difference between Banks.
