well, i checked the old fashion way....wear on the top of the valve. the wear seems to be right where it needs to be, but i was just wondering how mnay people actually use shorter pushrods

I have used that length on a LT1 casting motor before... don't worry about the length number just as long as it's the right length. Hell with different heads and lifters you could be running a much different length. I put a 7.800 on a solid roller with LT1 castings the other day.

Use a pushrod length checker. I just happen to be using 7.150 rods, but like Bret said, length for each application can and sometimes does vary greatly.
