How fast is the ticking? Could be an exhuast leak. Little ones tend to disappear when things heat up and metal expands, sealing the leak.

Re: tic tic tic at startup

I had this problem also in my 95 z28 i never got a chance to figure it out as i cracked a set of heads and had my motor rebuilt. I thought it could have mabye been the lifters but the sound stopped after awhile so i really have no idea sorry. If you find out what it is please let me know. Thanks

if you think its a sticky lifter, run a quart of marvels mystery oil in it. that might clear it up. it did wonders for me.

Re: tic tic tic at startup

I had that problem some months ago... someone hinted it might be a lifter... so when I took my top end apart I pulled the lifters... and they were worn out worse than 2 dollar harlot. I replaced them and the ticking stop and my oil pressure improved as well.
