How many people have spun cam bearings...

.....after installing an aftermarket cam?

Im trying to get a good census. From my search its seems most guys on here havent had a problem. But I was denied service by a shop claiming it happens too commonly on LT1's. More recently I had a friend spin a bearing an hour after installing his on a 90k motor. Ive heard its just carelessness or a bad installation, usually cause by nicking the bearings.

My motor has 135k miles, any feed back from other higher mileage cammed LT1 owners?

Thanks

I spun one on a 95 imp i built about 2 days after the cam went in. Done a few other cars without a problem, including my own.

LT1s are just like SBCs, you dont have any thing to worry about. But at your miles, I'd build up a nice lil 355.

I don't recall hearing about anyone that spun a cam bearing after a cam swap. Every once in a while I'll hear of someone spinning a main bearing after a cam swap because of spinning the engine faster. Don't even worry about the cam bearings, and honestly if you take care of the motor and don't rev the **** out of it you should be fine doing a cam swap with high miles. I did mine at 125k, I now have 134k.

Well it does happen a friend of mine built an LT1 and he spun a cam bearing. But my guess is that some people are not properly cleaning the new cam and getting the sticky rust preservative off of it. Anyway just keep things clean and lubed when installing and you should have no problems.
