How to make sure your rear isn't bent (without driving it)

ok... in a wreck... parting out the car... yada yada yada...

just spent $1,000 on the rear some months ago and it was MINT before the wreck... the drivers rear wheel is bent, and the rotor is cracked... but i wanna sell the whole rear minus the left rotor, (or at least as much of it as i can)

anyways... say i just take off the rotor and put on another one to sell it...

without driving the car... or installing that rear into another car...

how do you know FOR SURE if it is bent in any way shape or form?

i seriously doubt it sustained any significant damage (if any) but i wanna make sure, at least the left side isn't bent...

what do i do?

thanks a bunch!

Jared

you could spin the axle with a wheel on it and see if it wobbles back and forth.

yeah...i thought about that...

but if it was bent only very minorly...

you wouldn't feel it/ see it unless it was spinning at like 40+ mph..

you could pull the axel shaft out take it to a machine shop and have them spin it to see if its true. if it is ok then chances are your housing isnt bent. i bought some axels used for my 79 and i did this with them at school before i put them in. i will say though that if your rim is bent and the rotor is craked then your axel is probrably damaged too.
