i do it within the first 2-3 days, make sure to get things nice and hot and then do it. ( after it cools down to the touch ) Do this twice, and you should be set.

A few heat cycles ... Then once again in a few weeks I think ... Check them though to see if any look like theyre working loose I guess , Better to retighten them too much then not enough and blow out the gaskets

I'm just afraid of breaking them. I am quite a brute So get them nice and hot then cool to the touch and tighten. Do this 2-3 times and I should be good?

With modern gaskets and proper machine work it's not necessary. Do you think the factory does it? Not to say that everything the factory does is right, but how many new cars have problems related to improper head bolt torque? If you feel compelled to do it, a couple of good heat cycles is what we used to do. And yes, if your are going to do it use a torque wrench or you will do more harm than good.

But how do you plan on getting a torque wrench in there like the passenger side? I use about 3 different sizes of wrenches to do the job.

26 is the number from the "bible". Doesn't seem like much, does it? Remember, this is an aluminum head you are screwing into.

well, I know I'm over that, so I'm just gonna leave things alone

26 just doesn't seem like enough at all... You tq the intake manifold bolts tighter than that

wait, maybe I'm thinking head bolts...
