How long LT1 lasts

I am thinking about getting mid 90's Z 28 and i was wondering about how long the LT1 engines last. how many miles does the engine usually have on it when it starts to break down or need major work to it. I dont want to buy one that will start breaking down on me right away. thanx for any help.

Thats kind of a vague question. It all depends how the car was drivin, stock or modded and how well it was taken care of. Even if it was taken care of perfectly and never modded, the engine still may go faster then one that was sprayed through like crazy ya know?

So no one can correctly give you the right answer. But there are people out here with over 200,000 miles, heck i think some are at like 250,000!

My brothers LT1 had over 200K on it and probably would have ran longer if he didn't do the cam swap.
Car still ran 13.4 @ 105mph with 200K on it before the cam swap.

Yeah if they are well taken care of, the LT1 will last a very long time. I have a 93 Trans am with 176,000 miles that runs very strong and has not had any problems. I also have a 94 z28 with 221,000 miles on it that runs almost as well as the 93 that has headers and other bolt-ons. So it just depends on who had and how well they have taken care of the car.

I have a work vehicle I drive around during the week. So, I drive my Camaro on the weekend, fun, whatever. Transmission was rebuilt March of '03. I actually bought that Z28 for only $4500. Heh.

How's 11.03 @ 125.53 spinning with a 76k stock bottom-end? I can't wait to see what your car does on the dope Frank.
