how long to expect for waterpump install?

well guys it looks like my waterpump is finally done...I would really like to replace it with a mezeire or CSI, but I need the car everyday for work and school. How long should it take me to change the wp? I dont have extensive knowledge, but I have changed several things such as the radiator, plugs, etc. so I think I can do it...Just was wondering about a time estimate.

You can definetely do it yourself. Should only take a couple of hours, a whole afternoon at most if you're doing it the first time.

It took me 4 hours the first time, it could be done in less time with a tighter routine though.

Does the lt1 still have the standard small block chevy style water pump? The 4 bolt ones?

Those are cake to change. I can change a waterpump in my 88 in 15 minutes probably...

I can install headers on mine in 1 hour tops...im sure most lt1 guys cant say that.

The lt1 waterpumps have 6 bolts. Just make sure you get it wired right. I did a headgasket change and CSI pump in about 6 hrs. But you don't have to do the heads so I'ld say about 2hrs. Depends on how you wire it. (wether or not you want a switch or indicator light on your dash)

Took about 5 hours the first time I did it. I was really annoyed by the chiltons guide that did not mention you need to remove the air pump to get the last bolt out.
