How long does the Water Pumplast?

My car has 53K miles on her...How long exactly does the stock water pump last?

Time for preventive upgrade?

It'll last about as long as your Optispark . Seriously though... it'll take the Opti with it if you wait untill it goes out.

Mine lasted 100k miles, I was surprised. I wasn't paying attention and it started to leak and destroyed my Opti. Just make sure if it starts to leak to change it ASAP or you'll be FUBAR. It's alot cheaper to get just the H2O pump for 150 then the pump and another 400 for the Opti.

Mine was done at about 40k, but even though it leaked, it never caused the engine to run any hotter. I would bet your problem lies elsewhere.

If your pump is not leaking out the weep hole, it's probably ok for now.

Mine died earlier this year, somewhere around 80-85k.

Cool

Mine went till 107K. Go figure.... My original opti got dreanched when it went but after a good cleaning, it lived.

P.S. I got a reman water pump from Auto Zone for $40.

While installing Jet-Hot LTs on my car last weekend I noticed that the water pump weep hole shows signs of drainage. The car has 94k miles and running the original pump. The weep hole isn't wet or dripping at the moment so my guess is that it is leaking when the engine is running and stops leaking when the engine is off. I'm changing it tomorrow while finishing up my LT install...just to save my Opti (which is original too).

My original pump went at around 20K, still under warrantee. I just finished removing the second one at 60K due to a new opti and CSI install.

I have 180,000 MILES on mine. Stock since new.

Think I'm tempting fate??? I think so.

Time for a replacement this winter I think.
