How long did your stock shocks and struts last?

I'm at 55,000 miles, or 6.5 years, and it seems like I get more wheel hop over little bumps. It does seem pretty early for shocks/struts but maybe that's about how long they last?

Thanks,
Dan

Wheelhop on these cars usually isnt caused by bad shocks. It is caused by warn bushings in the lower control arms.

However in case it is the shocks in your case (Our cars do not have struts, even in the front) I still have mine (back ones) on with 77k on it.

(Front ones were replaced only because they broke trying to get the springs off.)

Yeah, that could be it also. It sure feels like my front shocks aren't controlling the vibration like they used to though. Do you recommend the polyurethane bushings, or factory replacements?

I had already ordered the shocks, because I want to help the handling. I'm also getting a solid 35mm swaybar up front with new bushings and endlinks. Also, I'm getting a set of tubular subframe connectors.

Thanks,
Dan

I just changed the bushings and endlinks in my rear sway bar after three years.

I also changed the rear shocks which were the original shocks, last week.

Front shocks are3 years old.

Did you notice any difference with the rear shock change? I suppose you did the bushings and end links at the same time, so it will be hard to isolate improvements to a certain change.

I bought my 88 Formula a few months ago and it had 105K on it with the stock shocks and struts and they were all blown.
Changed the front suspension and that made a huge difference. Haven't had time to do the rear yet.

Mine *seem* fine, because I've never driven another Z28, although there is that weird squeak/groan when my rear wheels go over a bump.
If you put new stock springs on your car, it may lift the car up a bit if they are worn. My stock WS6 springs in my formula were fine so yours may be as well.
