Re: How long did your lt1 last?
Yeah, mine broke in half the night i put in my lt4 springs and 1.6rr's. I thought I dropped a valve and was beating myself over it for a month before i tore it apart and found the crank broke right behind the 5 and 6 rods..

141,000 and was running strong. Dropped the tranny and figured I might as well freshen the motor while I was at it. Not a leak of anything(other than the rear intake oil leak). Looked like it could've run for another 200,000 without an issue.

Re: How long did your lt1 last?
Bought my '96 Z28 used with 94,000, clean inside and out. Drove
it for seven months, maybe 2,500 miles and without warning
it got hot and chewed up a head gasket on the expressway.
No oil in the coolant that I could tell, and no coolant in the
oil that I can see.
When it cools off a little bit here I'll take it apart and replace
the head gaskets, have a valve job done and the heads
checked for flatness.
So, in closing, I've been paying for over 1 1/2 years ( 2 1/2 to go )
for a car I've driven 7 months.
I must be posessed.

(95 Z History)
1st motor went 89k (minor bolt-ons) = Blown Headgasket
2nd motor went 2k (minor bolt-ons) = Bent Valves
3rd motor went 8k (full bolt-ons) = Skipped 4 Teeth on a OEM Timing Chain Setup
(94 Z History)
1st motor went 98k (full bolt-ons) = Coolant Coming out the Exhaust
Said to hell with it and finally started doing the work myself and never cut a corner.
383 and 355 both are now running strong.

123xxx and still pulls real hard. I believe the previous three owners took excellent care of the engine (I know for a fact the guy right before me did). My bay was flawless when I bought it (and still is for the most part). Looking at my engine you wouldn't believe it has that much on it. There were 116xxx on it at time of my purchase (May '05).

Re: How long did your lt1 last?
235,000 miles (including ~100 passes down the strip, and some "spirited" driving habits).
Factory-installed opti.
Guess they finally got it right in '97.
I'm hoping this one'll last till 250,000 (1 year commuting) till I can drop in the stroker.
Now the 10-bolt was a different story... 2 diff's toasted... and I love my Moser 12-bolt and Street Twin clutch.

Glad to hear things are runnin' good now. Did you have 1 shop doing all the installs before? or were they different shops and it was just a bad coincidence?
