How long can cylinder heads sit before needing a freshening?
I have a set of LT1 cylinder heads (AFR 190s, I believe) that I acquired when I sold some car parts. The heads were not used. I received the heads in 2002 (June, maybe), and I have had them in the box they were received in. How long could the heads sit before the springs would need to be re-done? Thanks.
I can confirm that an 'old' set of AFR 190 LT1 heads went well into the 9's on Dave Deluca's nitrous car. I've also seen an LT1 TA run 10.5's on 4lbs. of boost with the same heads.
Again, how are they not good? Lack of positive results just means they weren't popular (read expensive) back then or people that ran them weren't posting their results on the internet....

If you say so but the results I have seen are FAR FAR from that. Like a heads and cam f-body running what my cam only car ran.
Porting changes things and I am sure there are porters who can make them work but generally it is not worth the effort.
