How long before starting motor after intake install?

How long after you install an intake do you have to wait for RTV to seal, cure, etc? Is there a minimum time? Whats recommended?

I apply the RTV then let it get tacky(20mins) I then set the intake ontop of it and go ahead and torque the bolts down to spec in order..I go ahead and put everything else back on and wait about 1-2hrs then fire her up..hasnt failed me the last 5 times..

if the car is not yr daily runer ide wait a couple of days, i just did mine and waited 3 days to start her up, no leaks, and its my first time doing a intake leak, lots of leaks are caused by starting the engine to soon after the install

By the time my cam install was done I had waited about 36 hours before starting it up. No leaks.

Overnight and use Ultra Copper from advance auto. That stuff is the shiznit. I had a leak after my first intake install, then used the copper stuff and no leaks yet.

While it is probably a good idea (since Permatex recommends it ) to wait 24 hours to cure, I haven't had any problems cranking it right on up w/o any wait. It takes me about an hour or so to get from laying the intake on the block to putting the key in the ignition.

Man with all these posts you'd think you were trying not to blow up your new motor!!!! j/k bro

I'll prob. stop by sometime today with the pump, not sure when since it's almost 3:30am and I just got in!!!!

Oh, lemme know if you need some of the Permatex Ultra Copper, I went alittle nuts lastyear while doing the trans. rebuild and intake leak fix and bought a few extra of these, and the black stuff too.

no flame intended (honestly) why five times??

For the original poster I would wait 24 hrs for full cure. Also I used Permatex "THE RIGHT STUFF" and it has not failed me in at least 45K or so which is about a year or so.

I use ultra copper, and wait 24 hours as well. The first intake I did, I fired it up right away and it blew out. I was redoing it the next day.
