I dropped my engine through the bottom the other day and today I removed the old engine from the cradle, then tried to put the new one in. For the last couple of hours, I have been trying to tighten the driver side mount and I just couldn't do it. I have to return the hoist tomorrow and I need to figure out how to do this.
The problem is the front bolt. If I try to put it in with the huge bolt on, I can't because there isn't enough room for it to go in. Then I tried to take the bigger bolt out and after I put in the front bolt, I couldn't put the big bolt back in... I even loosened up the 3 bolts on the base of the mount and it still didn't work. Any ideas?

hmm, I can't quite remember what the motor mount looked like, but did you try to put the engine in with the motor mount on the block and with it already mounted on the car?
One way it should work or else it would seem that something is bent.

 

I changed my mounts to poly while the engine was in the car. I jacked up the motor a little to get the mount out. I think the easiest way to get it back in is to make all (6) the bolts loose while you line it up. Once every bolt is started, then start tightening.

Try putting in the front bolt first by itself, then the big hinge bolt, then the rest of the bolts.

 

I mounted the brackets to the moter then had a frind move the motor till both hinge bolts lined up and then tapped em in lightly with a hammer. I printed the diagram off of all-data and thats how it said to do it.

 

try puting it in with the bottom mount un bolted,and the lines removed from the rack.
this should give you enough room to line up the bolts on the bottom

I did take my motor out from the top though so but i dont think it should matter too much

 

Thanks for your help guys. I just got back from the garage and I did it in less than 15 minutes today. Yesterday it was 3 AM and I was too tired too think. I ended up removing the 3 bolts that held the motor mount to the cradle, then I tightened the mount to the block, then tightened back the 3 base bolts. The motor is in....
