Roller rockers and springs?

Well after i get my as&m headers which is real soon i am gonna get a cam. Probably the cc305 or the xe 224/230 lsa 114. I have emissions to deal with. I'm leaning more towards the cc305 though. But before i do that i was thinking i should install 1/6 rr, and new valve springs so i won't have to do it all at the same time. How hard is the install of the rockers and springs? Also would i notice a difference after the install with the stock cam? If so what kind of difference? Thanks.

I'm gonna estimate 2.5 hours for you to get the covers off and swap all the springs. Then 1 hour to adjust the rockers and close it back up.

Is there any noticable gains without the cam?

7-15 rwhp depending on how tired the stock springs are.

Both of those will pass emmissions....I would do the 224/230.

If you have never installed springs before then I would estimate your install time a little higher...around 5-6 hours. The springs on the back of the heads are a little tricky to get off. Do yourself a favor and get either the Moroso or ProForm stud mount spring compressor. I had a serious SOTP difference after putting on dual valve springs and CC Pro Magnums. Definitely worth all the trouble.

Actually I based the spring time on me installing my springs last night for the first time. I guess a lil longer is in order to get the tools out ect. I usually work real slow at first then get goin. The rocker adjustment i didn't do yet on my car, but i've done it on a jeep. I don't think 5-6, but maybe a comprimise of our time estimates.

I bought a cheap Lislie (sp) tool at pep boys. I think it is the same design as the Moroso, but i'm not sure. With a couple of tweaks it works great. After the 4th spring, i decided the tools lever with cam action had way to much friction even after i lubed it. You also didn't really get enough leverage with the handle. It comes with a bolt to use a wrench on instead of teh handle for working in tight areas. It needs a 1/2" longer bolt, and grind a lil inward bevel onto the top feet that push down to keep them from slipping off. I'd rather buy the cheap tool and take 5 minutes to modify it to work well then buy an expensive one. It worked better after i modded it, just like an fbody, hahha.

Okay so i was looking on thunder racing. Do i want cc pro magnum self-aligning or non-self aligning? Also which valve springs would be the best to get, and do i gotta get new pushrods? Which would be the best to get with those also? It will either be for a cc305 or the 224/230 on a 114 lsa. So would the same valve springs and pushrods(assuming i gotta get those) work for either one? Thanks for the help.

Ok, you want the self aligning rockers. As for valve springs, there are lots of good ones out there. I would talk to Comp or also try Combinationmotorsports (www.combinationmotorsports.com), they have a spring set out that is good to like 0.600" lift i think for a resonable price and requires no machining. As for pushrods, you dont necessarily need them, but for $30 bucks or so wouldnt you rather have the piece of mind? I would go with Comp chrome moly rods probably. Yes, the same valve springs and pushrods will work with either cam. Hope I helped.
