how important is it for me to get a lt4 knock sensor? any hp gain over stock? or is only when i start putting in exhaust and cam/roller rockers that it will refrain from picking up less sensivitve knock readings?

It only really makes a difference once you got some mods added to your car, especialy ones that can cause more vibrations. Cam, Headers, That stuff. All the LT4 KM does is do a better job of filtering out false knocks than the LT1 KM does.

I'm guessing that you mean Knock Module, not Sensor. The module goes in the PCM. It is just less sensative than the Stock Module and will prevent most of the retarding of the ignition due to false knock which accompanys installation of RRs and other noise producers.

If you don't have any false knock, you don;t need one. On the other hand if you do have false knock you may experience some power loss because of excessive retardation. JMHO.
