How hard to replace AC compressor?
How hard to replace AC compressor?
My AC compressor blows cold air, but sounds like a Yeti, it's much louder then my exhaust, and I have a GMMG. During the winter months I just pull the AC relay, but it's too damn hot to do that now, so I want to replace it.
How hard is it to replace? What is involved? I've done the A4-M6 swap, LS1 brake upgrade, and replaced the water pump and power steering pump, so I know my way around this car.
What things could I do myself? What would I need to go to a shop for, and what is the going rate for those services uaually?
Sorry for another AC post, I know this time of year they're all over the place.

Is recharging the system a simple process or is that something I should have done at a shop?
What's a reasonable price for a discharge/charge?

Re: How hard to replace AC compressor?
try putting a can of ac oil in the system its 5 bucks thats probibly your problem and your ac should be the new r34 does not harm the ozone .the compressor will get load when low or no oil in system
Re: How hard to replace AC compressor?
they sell it next to the r34 u ahve to have oil in the system ..put it in just like r34 on low side its to easy .crank car turn on ac hook up hose on low side close to the dryer with ac on high it will suck it in when can is empty its done its like 4 ounces or so
Re: How hard to replace AC compressor?
It's R-134a... not R34. And the oil you would use is called R-134a PAG oil. I don't think that's gonna fix it though. Oil doesn't just disappear unless there is a leak, and if there was a leak, he wouldn't have any refrigerant. And yes, the R-134a is still illegal to vent into the air.

I am sure you can get it out without removing anything else
