Question How hard is it to rebuild a Alternator?

I bought a rewound Hi-output stock alternator for my car a few years ago and the bearing are going bad. How hard is it to replace it and does GM or Napa sell the front & rear bearings? Anyone got any experience with rebuilding their alternator? Thanks!

it is not that hard to rebuild your alternator i did it once, the only problem is that sometimes the main bolt on there gets stuck pretty good and you need and impact wrench to get it off. i dont know who sells the bearings but i know they are not that expensive. but all in all its a pretty easy endeaavor. good luck.

Cool

I just found this interesting page online on how to rebuild your alternator.

http://www.fourwheeler.com/howto/86978/

http://www.alternatorparts.com/cs130_sbpage1.htm

Now the main question is where do I buy new bearings?
