How Hard And Long Will And Engine Swap Take!!

i have a 95 ta with 170,000 miles it blew a head gasket so im just gonna buy a low milegage lt1 and put in it can someone give me tips or a websight on the best way to pull the motor from the top or bottom? how high does it need to be to do it from the bottom? i will be doing this in a basment so ceiling height isnt very much!! just wanna know what the easeist way will be

you could do it either way but I don't see how you could do it in a basement. For one If you do it from the bottom you will need to get it at least 4 to 5 feet in the air. Ion (Madwolf) got some good pics. If you do it from the top you will need a hoist that will go up at least 6 feet. How high is the ceiling in the basement????

I just rebuilt my motor. To remove and tear down, took 2 days. To rebuild and drop in 3. So minus the teardown and rebuild. I would say you could do it comfortably in 4 days.

Why don't you just replace the head gaskets....much easier to fix than the whole motor.....just a thought

I agree, unless you broke a piston, it's much easier to just replace the head gasket. Way too much time involed in swaping in a new motor. I've pulled about five, it's not fun.
