How Hard is LCA Install?!?! 1 to 10?

I am going to be ordering LCA's. Can I change them out myself and if so how hard or easy is it. Is it something anybody can do?

I'm gonna say 3 just because its tricky getting the axle the right height so that the holes line up.

Cuz once you jack up the car, the axle will be a different distance away and its sometimes a pain to find the right height to get the bolt in. Especially if you have relocation brackets.

Other than that its pretty straight forward, 2 bolts.

Took me 15-20 mins on each side including jacking it up.

It took me a couple hours but thats just because over 2/3 that time was spent trying to get one rusted nut loose on the driver side. I even broke a socket with a breaker bar! Eventually I got it though. Its very straigh forward and if you dont run into the probelms I had you should be able to do the whole job within 1 hour. I suggest soaking the nuts/bolts over night.

Any liquid penatrant will work. Liquid wrench works well. Stay away from WD-40. Its better then nothing but it really doesn't eat away the rust like others will do.

Yeah its a really simple mod. I didnt use any kind of penatrator and it took about 25 minutes. If you do use a penatrator use PB Blaster

I'm with Aggie about a 1.5

I'll give it a 2 because I had to snap a rusted on bolt to get one side off. Luckily they had them in stock and were cheap at the local dealer.

Cake if you have the right tools (impact werench) If doing it by hand it may be a little more tricky b/c of rusted bolts. Just lube them up and shouldnt take too long at all. Good luck.

i didnt use any penetrant on my bolts.they had rust on them but nothing that my wrench couldnt handle taking off.i agree the only pain is finding the right height for the holes to line up.it is very straight foward though 2 bolts on each lca.
