How hard to install intank pump in convertible?

My car has knock even on 92 premium and according to my scanmaster is running very lean.I can richen it with my maft but don't help.I would think its likely the fuel pump, fuel fiter was changed out already a shortwhile ago.The car idles perfect and otherwise runs good so doubt injectors. That would maybe leave the fuel pump or mabye the fuel pressure reg.Do the regs go out much in these lt1s.Anything to check on that.is there a vac line to the reg maybe it came off or something?

I do have zex wet kit to install so figure a new pump either inline or intank would be a smart thing to do.

I was thinking get the racetronix plug and play lt1 kit. I would maybe do the trap door thing if my car was hatch but not sure can do that if its vert.If its not a huge deal guess drop the tank and install it.

can the pumps get weak but the car will still idle and run otherwise ok except lean out when you floor it..? I have no check engine codes either for too lean
or anything else right now.
