How hard do you run your car????

I just got my car not to long ago but it seems like everytime or everyother time i drive it i stomp on it. I just hope that i dont break or wear stuff out faster. I am sure most of you run your cars hard. I have one friend that runs his LT1 HARD really hard and it has like 100,000 miles on it and he says that he doesnt have any problems. How many times a week do you guys see WOT. How much abuse can LT1's take?

I easily have over 2200 drag strip passes and 200,000 miles.

I don't beat on mine very often cause I feel guilty...but the car is solid, and my dad had a couple LT1 cars, one was his police cruiser and he drove the **** outta that car and it ran fine. As long as you take care of it you can beat on it, just don't do stupid **** like running at redline for miles on end.

On the 95 Formula I had, I beat on it hard all the time. The car had probably 200 1/4 mile passes, 10-15 autoxes, and 12+ roadcourse days on it when I traded it in (95,000 miles), and it was still very solid. The only mecahanical failures it ever had was a water pump at 30K miles, and the timing chain at 90K miles.

I run my Firehawk very hard too, and it has been holding up just fine as well. These cars are really built very strong, and as long as you watch out for the few known week points (like no slicks on a stock rear end), then they hold up very well to hard use.

I go WOT a few times every time i drive the car. Not a 1/4 mile at a time always, but i have been at WOT for at least 1/2 block or more more times then i can count and ive only had the car almost 2 months. Ive had LT1s in my B-bodys and they lived through everything you could throw at them. If the cops can beat em like they do and theyre still as strong as they are when the cops sell em with 100-200K on em then something must have been done right when they built the damn things.

If your foot could literally go thru the floor... I would have hit pavement by now.

Everyone that knows me claims my car has an on/off switch, instead of an accelerator pedal. That's with a 95,000 mile short block.

My Z is my daily driver and I drive pretty aggrissively... and push her to the limits... well... within reason ... at most I take her up to 5.3 RPM's but I try to keep it under 5 grand.... around 4th gear with the 4:10's ... I guess I can say... yes I give my car allot of excersise... but I'm under the hood and chassy every free minute I get making sure everything is as it should be and changing out things preventively. I run my car hard... but I do 3 times the maintenance.... I kind of see owning these cars like stock car racing... If your goign to have any high performance car... it's good to give it a spot to spot check before and after a race... or in my case ... every weeked.
