how to get a long dowel pin cam to fit in short pin engine.

Hi guys I really can use some help. I have a chance to get a good deal on a cam and lifter package. but it has the center hole and long dowel pin, how hard is it to get the cam to work in my 93LT1 which has the short dowel pin. just seeing if it is worth the trouble..thanks..

It really would take a new timing set, new opti, and new timeing cover

Won't work unless the cam is interchangeable between vetned and nonvented optis. in that case there will be splines in the hole in the center, and tapping the dowel pin with a deadblow hammer should be enough to recess it far enough to fit.

My cam started out with a long pin. We measured it, marked it, then we trimmed it off. It works fine. Really, it does.

cam will work no problem, just trim the pin

the splines are in the timing sprocket
