Kraest and I were conversing my car and my goals.
I told him how I got flustered that 10's NA were probobly out of reach with LT1 castings and i am so pissed off I dont want anything to do with 10s. I think i am going to run as close to a 11.000 without hitting 10's as possible and then strapping on a big bottle, DFI, 250+ shot
to blast me right THROUGH the 10s
anyway, point of the story-
what are you guys pushing the scat 9000's to?
My engine builder says hes seen 800hp on them
I also wont be reving as high on the dope.
Mike says my crank goes
I say its good for 1 run and if it does- who cares, the motor would be concidered a failure and would need to be rebuilt anyway. Besides, what a way to go out
383 on a 250 shot!
I just hope that it shoots everthing strait out the oil pan so i can reuse half my stuff- or atleast the top end
doubtful though, what are the chances of that!

Doesnt matter who's name is on it, it's a cast crank.
Stuff is alot tougher than most think... and really you arent going to be making an obscene amount of power, even with 250hp worth of n2o. Never the less... I don't think it'll last long. Of course.. that might not be the first thing to break, d'oh

Im thinking that the scat will be fine i was wondering the same thing my self i looked in to it. I myself have never heard of a stock crank breaking i pretty sure it has happenend though. the scat crank is a better metal than stock. i looked into forged vs 9000 the 9000 could handle 105,000 psi the forged could handle 140,000

as long as your pistons and conect rods are forged you should be fine. I am starting to build a 383 myself and am going to go with the 9000 i dont think their should be any problem running that crank. i think if your going to dip in the 9 seconds range than you can start worrying or if you luanch real hard with a 6 speed on drags other than that worry about the heads but im no expert just my 02 cents.

so phil-
what do YOU think is going first?
STL-
My rods are billet and my pistons are forged-
I think i might pull the motor and swap cranks (i know, easier said than done) before i crazy with juice and DFI. its a lot easier without her being the daily
Talking to another engine builder he had the same thing to say as you

My engine builder estimates between 450-470hp.
Best Gtech time so far is 11.94@115mph. Lookin to get a timeslip right away as well.
I revved mine to 6900rpm a few times by accident as well.
Scat is a pretty strong crank as long as its balanced properly and you have a good harmonic balancer on it like ATI or Fluidampr.
