How Far will LT1 castings go?? Porting/HP
How Far will LT1 castings go?? Porting/HP
I've been researching a little and some of the big dogs are running big CC AFR's and ported.
How far can you really go with the stock LT1 heads, or how much farther can you go with LT4's.
Can you make some serious HP with these heads lets say some LE3's, or do you have to get some AFR's to make some serious HP.
thanks

I've seen over 600hp on the engine dyno on a set of LT1 castings and a soild roller.
It's not the heads that are the problem it's the intake.
I'm here to bash anyplace either but from the looks of your sig you better do a search on ARE.

Like bret said,
theres alot more potential in the stock Lt1 castings than alot of people give them credit for. its all about the combination that makes great numbers... something that alot of people overlook when their putting a motor together, they think that spending huge amounts of money on name brand parts is the only way to make power, which isnt true,
Im shooting for 500 rwhp with my build this summer with the LE3 heads, converted super vic, and carb. And is should be feasible, but its all in the tuning.

What about a Sheet metal Intake On the LT1 intake? Would that fix some intake issues?
Also, will I benifit from LT4 heads at this point?
thanks

That's more what I'd like to here...less the carb..for me that is. But I was considering a future project of the LE3's, very large cam, and some other changes when I do my next motor. I wasn't looking forward to spending 3500 on some ported AFR's.

I doubt you would gain much with the LT4s if any...
As for the intake, if you want the most power out of it the single plane is the way to go definately.

Re: How Far will LT1 castings go?? Porting/HP
LG has gotten over 475 rwhp out of a 355 on stock castings... but that's for a *****-out race motor. The point being: these heads CAN be massaged to work miracles.
